Missouri Sports Betting Begins In Time For Final Kansas City Chiefs Games

Pro football fans and bettors in Missouri have a lot to look forward to this season, including the launch of legal sports betting on Dec. 1.
This year, the Kansas City Chiefs will be featured in more prime-time games than any other NFL team, starting with a Sept. 5 showdown in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers, an AFC West rival.
While Missouri bettors won’t be able to wager on most prime-time games, two matchups after Dec. 1 and three other regular-season games will be available for legal bets.
Also, Missouri bettors can wager legally on NFL playoff games and the Super Bowl. The 2026 Super Bowl, crowning the upcoming season's champion, is set for Feb. 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers. Super Bowl games are traditionally the most heavily wagered event of the year.
The Chiefs enter this season as the 2024-’25 Super Bowl runner-up to the NFL champion Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs won the two previous Super Bowls and three of the last six.
Below are the seven prime-time games for the Chiefs in 2025. All times are ET.
- Week 1 9/5 at Los Angeles Chargers (Brazil), 8 p.m. YouTube (Friday)

As CBS Sports reported, the Chiefs also play on Thanksgiving against the Dallas Cowboys. They are featured in "standalone games against the Philadelphia Eagles (Week 2) and Buffalo Bills (Week 9)."
"The Eagles and Bills games are the only games in the 4:25 p.m. slot on those Sundays, meaning the whole country will be watching those contests," the network reported.

Gary Jenkins: The Mob Once Ran Illegal Sports Betting In Missouri
From The Kansas City Mob To Legal Sports Betting
At one time, the Civella crime family in Kansas City controlled illegal sport betting in the region. This became a major news story after Mob boss Nick Civella was recorded on surveillance audio discussing bets on the 1970 Super Bowl between the Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings. The Chiefs were a 12-point underdog and won 23-7.
In an earlier episode of Gambling.com's “The Edge,” recorded before last November’s statewide vote to approve sports betting, Gary Jenkins, a former Kansas City Police Department intelligence detective, discusses the Mob's illegal sports betting scandal and the current public sentiment in Missouri to legalize sports betting.
